Busy Saturday: Hula Performance and Half Marathon

How would I sum up today's events in the Linohana? I would say that our Saturday actually started on Friday evening.

1. Hula performance at the Studio Art Festival in Irvine. In preparation for the performance at noon today, Christine started Friday afternoon making Leis and preparing 3 outfits for the girls' show. Jody ended up not performing because she had a low fever. Christine also performed in the adult portion of the show. Being nervous, she said her hands were really shaking in the beginning. Overall, they were all very pleased with their performances! I wished I could have gone to see their show but I was in a completely different world.

2. Fontana Half Marathon. My Saturday began with going to Fontana on Friday night so I didn't have to get up at 4am to get to the race. Great day for the race except that it was HOT. Race started at 7:30am up in Lytle Creek which is about 3500+ feet above sea level. Throughout the entire race, total elevation dropped about 2000 feet, I think. Weather was nearly 80 at the finishline. Definitely not ideal weather for distance running. Fontana was at 92 degrees by afternoon. Overall, I ran another Personal Record with a time of 1:22:27. I placed 16th overall (out of 2000 I believe) and 3rd in my age group 40-44. I am very sore but happy :) Next stop.... Saint George Marathon (Utah) in October!

WOW That is a great time Jerry! You're definitely getting the hang of this thing, huh?

Congratulations! and on a hot day, too. Just great.

Too bad you weren't at the hula performance, so we could see a video clip, but you can't be everywhere at the same time, huh?
